The Truth : The Trust

Is the truth really that important after all?
- lauyee

To me the truth is always important, or so I thought. At least I need a truth that I can be satisfied with, or so I thought. Then everything seems irrelevant anymore, for the truth is, there's no truth, or maybe there's truth out there but since it can't be found, everyone will have their own set of truth. When everyone is telling the truth, which truth is the true truth?

In the end, we are all settled with the truth we trust to be true. The person who we trust, the news source that we trust basically the source of information that we trust. Some trust no one but themselves, but information have to come from somewhere, even if it's falling down from the sky, at least we know that it's from the sky. How can we be absolutely sure that the source of information is telling the truth? We experiment. Trust that the method that we use to test the data produces reliable information that we can finally call truth, and hence we manufactured truth. Some were published, put to the time of test, and before anyone else can prove otherwise, it become the universal truth. The easiest example to think of, the flat earth theory. Are you even sure that you truly exist and that the world you're living in truly exist? Now with increasing integration of the virtual world into everyday life, to the extend that we call them the cloud, and face to face interaction often replaced by facebook interaction, information travel and alter way faster than it used to. There's more and more claimed truth surfacing on the virtual network, every split to the lowest fraction second there's something new and it's the truth, though how true it is, greatly depend on how much people trust it.

Lastly.... here's one simple truth, a truth that you might not able to handle, the truth is I know how you look like right this moment, and here's how:

The truth is, I can't really trust myself either, always too impulsive, imaginative and irrational,
sometimes, even delusional.

Sleepstakes: Sleeping Mistakes

Not to be confused with sweepstakes, or any bedding accessories and expo. This is personal.

My definition of sleepstakes? Mistakes done and opportunity missed while one is sleeping.

One who is familiar with basic economy or accounts would know what is opportunity cost, the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen. Sometimes, the opportunity cost is really high and I din't even notice that, because I was too busy sleeping. Tired is my usual reason for sleeping, matter of fact is, I just sleep whenever I feel like sleeping. If I'm not mentally tired, I'll just say that I'm physically tired, however it goes, I will just make up reason for me to sleep. However sometimes I stay awake when everyone else in my timezone is suppose to be sleeping. The opportunity cost of me staying awake is also sometimes greater than I expected.

How do I finally come to realize the opportunity cost of sleeping? When I missed 2 calls and I lost the love of my life. It was her life turning call, I missed it. Believe me when I say if you're not willing to treat your girl the way they deserve, there are always brothers out there who is waiting for just the right moment. She told me it's fate. To me, it's my mistake and I'll have to take it as a man and deal with it. Learn from my lesson and never to repeat again.

Of course there are other examples, I missed the exam with the highest credit hour in my college year, I missed interviews, business opportunities. I loss trust, people who trust my ability wouldn't trust me anymore because I often overslept. All these can be attributed to laziness, or in words of the 7 deadly sins, sloth.

What about the opportunity cost of not sleeping while I should? Well for one, that's the reason I'm sleeping when I shouldn't! Like when I'm driving and totaled my car, waking up in the drain. I can't afford to always be on the losing side. I need to win, I need to win big. I sought for a simple life, on that is I live for myself, seems like it's never a simple thing to have a simple life.

Took me so long to realize that sleeping, is about timing, about synchronizing your timing with the majority so group work can be done while everyone is awake. Of course at times, I should sleep lesser, sleep later, to savor the good time I'm in or to put in extra hard work. At times, sleep more for the sake of rejuvenation, relaxation and to gain peace of mind. Realizing that I'm unique, just like everyone else, I should sleep at a unique timing, just like everyone else.

If you read this, you probably should spend the time you use reading this to sleep, honest advice.

Bersih: A Battle Between the Classes

It's not a war between races... It's a battle between the classes...
Yellow rain coat - checked
Yellow T-Shirt - checked
Bersih Brain? - errr, what's that?

Look, this is a protest not a parade, you don't join a protest without knowing the cause.

A very intelligent friend of mine, an environmental engineer, who actually work as one and not succumb to sales engineer quoted the above statement.

I couldn't agree more with what he said about the battle between classes! It's much about the battle between the informed vs unaware. Education play a very very important role in creating a fair and peaceful democratic system, one that we call, the government of the people. The difference between the classes are still great, and I wonder how we arrive at 91.9 literacy rate (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_literacy_rate) looking at the situation.

Aside from education, it's also about the reliance towards the government. Any corporations, living quarters or work force, directly affected by any change in the government in power will hope that things remain the same. Even private small and medium business owners have the same kind of mentality, although to a lesser degree, because all they hope for is to make a living, and don't really care who's in power anyway.

Politic is a dirty playground, in every corner of the world. The underlying reason is in the lying, not under. It's the inherent flaw of human for us to be deceived, how else could we explain the increasing importance of branding if such is not thee case? Season politician are often cunning linguist anyway.

How could a wakil rakyat not be staying in the are that he mengwakili? How can one serve the people that he doesn't even live with? Do we still know the people among our neighborhood for us to recommend someone who can really speak for the majority of the neighborhood? If wakil rakyat are home grown wakil, can the wakil-wakil from the more secluded, illiterate, technologically backward part of Malaysia to farily represent their area when they are up against the urban people who have easier access to information? These are but the tip of the iceberg, but are we really doing what we can to help our country or are we just talking for the sake of creating awareness? How are we helping our country to achieve One Malaysia, or it has always been One Malaysia for the rakyat, just not in the politician eyes?

Kudos to those who are joining the rally, what you're doing is playing an important part in the history of Malaysia, it's beyond me to comment if it's right or wrong. So if you're serious about joining the rally, please make sure that you know what you're protesting for.
  1. Clean the electoral roll
  2. Reform postal ballot
  3. Use of indelible ink
  4. Minimum 21 days campaign period
  5. Free and fair access to media
  6. Strengthen public institutions
  7. Stop corruption
  8. Stop dirty politics

The World vs The Truth (preview)

The big lie, the convenient truth, an inconvenient truth and their supporting documentation, underlying assumption, ultimately the real truth.

Steven Quiring, climatologist from Texas A&M University added that "whether scientists like it or not, An Inconvenient Truth has had a much greater impact on public opinion and public awareness of global climate change than any scientific paper or report."

What is widely perceived as truth holds more credibility than the truth that only you know.

Protests against protest

This is one of the proudest thing of being a Malaysian, we are a country that promote and protect human rights, voted to be among the UN Human Rights Council, serving a 3 years term from June 19, 2010 to June 18, 2013.
It said that in the elections, Malaysia garnered 179 votes (95.2%) out of 188 countries that were present to vote.

"The high number of votes obtained reflects the confidence of the international community in Malaysia's ability to play a positive and constructive role in the work of the HRC. "It is an acknowledgement of our contribution towards enriching the quality of dialogue, cooperation and action aimed at advancing the promotion and protection of human rights globally.
- The Star, 15/4/2010

Isn't it fantastic? So when people think that there are problem in the election system, the people en masse can organize a protest, a walk for democracy. Of course if the election system is dirty, the elected people are dirty, hence a rally that clean up the dirt will definitely not be approved. Common sense? However they believe that people should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people. Most probably under too much negative motion picture influence. Censorship department should probably have a deeper thought about what to and what not to censor. You can censor the word sex, fuck beer, from songs, movie and any kind of mass media under their control. However, kids easily learn them from supermarket! So what's the whole point? Then they allow a movie of a guy planning to bomb the parliament building, and be celebrated as hero run on the big screen? Then they now wonder where people get the idea of walk for democracy?

Funny thing is this, at first there's a rally for electoral reform. Of course there bound to be voices of disagreement. In this world unanimous agreement is merely majority rules, and the minority can't do shit about it. Now to counter the voice of the rally an opposite voice must be heard, they might not have the numbers, but they have the megaphone. At first they claim that they see no needs for electoral reform, then they say that the protest is going to be a bother to the people at large. Such fickle minded people always confused me, don't talk shit, don't talk shit I, I I I I I, I I I I I, I I I repeat, don't talk shit three times. Then there's another group who say that they are patriotic and they just feel like showing their patriotism now. The best way that they can think of to counter the protest, is to have their own protest.

Okay if you think that a protest to counter a protest is funny enough, try preemptive protest against protest!

Feel free to google translate at your own risk if you don't understand, but I recommend you get some friend who can actually understand mandarin to help you out. C'mon they are always around the corner.

Simply childish political ploy! It's like saying

"sex is bad, I'll fuck you before you break your virginity to prove it to you."
What the hell? Satu Malaysia kononnya?

Are you sure?

Not long ago, in a day least expected, I met myself. Shy at first, crazy as you get to know better, and there's always a dark side lurking.

Time was great, and great is an understatement. It's like masturbating, you know exactly what you want, and you know how to treat yourself the way you like it. Indulging in moments, so relaxed, one tend to do whatever it takes just to stay the way it is. Minimizing the risk that might ruin the chemistry, letting it works taking it's own time, staying away from the Bunsen to avoid catching fire, away from the centrifuge to avoid separation.

How many cars are there in Penang?

It's illogical to post an irrelevant
picture on a post about logic, no?
Troubled by a question like that, that's how bad I've been reduced to. I have always been proud of my logical thinking, which sometimes doesn't seem to be very logical. However, I never expect myself to be troubled by such an easy logic question!

Statistical data for the cars in Penang might not be available, since the mobility of cars in and out of Penang is high. The car ownership in Penang with decent assumption could somehow be obtained from JPJ, and it should decently reflect the cars in Penang. Else, take the population Penang, select the demographic of drivers in Penang, say age 18 - 55 and assume that each of them is having 1~2 cars in average and the answer can be obtained. Or the number of household in Penang, assume that household within annual household income bracket  of RM50k ~ RM99K to have 2 cars, RM100k ~ 200k would have 3 cars, and so on so forth.

Life is Nothing!

In life, good things happen, bad things happen, in the end nothing happened.
- lauyee
I'm so caught up with getting a life that I am confused about what life is to me. I have to work to make a living, and I have to do more than just work to have a life worth living. It's obvious that everything is moving in a forward fashion. Time is, people are, even freaking price tag is continuously moving forward. Along the time line, assuming that each person have a linear time line, is marked with numerous events, occurrence that one call experience after it happens. Sometimes, it's in favor of us, sometimes it's to our disadvantage or distaste. However, aggregating all the good and bad, one will probably end up with nothingness. That's why we move forward each day hoping that we find something worth living for in the next moment.

天天好天 主题曲 彩虹的家 歌词 Fyone Stephanie

Revamping of lauyeelosophy

Once upon a blue night, when music sound blue, and even the moon is turning blue, mood follow the lead.

So much work on hand, so much that I am not interested in at the moment. Which leads me to mess my theme up, and further bluified it.

What is lauyeelosophy?

It was a little unexpected that this blog is still up at running after so many years, and definitely a huge chunk of inactivity. Started off with nothing but some personal nags, sharing some of the songs that I genuinely like and their lyrics, and some thoughts that I have no one around me to discuss with, bullshits that I've structured.

Soon I'll put everything into a mixing bowl, sharing lyrics with a structured bullshit story. I wouldn't update it as often as I'd like to but for people who like reading, I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed.

Yes a picture is worth a thousand words, but it wouldn't be as entertaining as a thousand words for sure.

Sincerely yours,
lauyee
